Piano Blog is my own blog that I post on with varying frequency.

About me: I am a classically trained musician in Austin, TX. I was born on the East Coast and received my Bachelor's Degree in piano performance at James Madison University studying under Eric Ruple. I moved to Austin to pursue graduate work at UT Austin, receiving a degree in music theory while studying in the celebrated studio of internationally renowned pianist Anton Nel.

Other major teachers include Gene Yenni, Lee Mitchell (formerly of Peabody). I've benefited greatly from my more limited, but tremendously influential, work with Peter Amstutz (WVU) and Charles Fisher (Michigan). I'm also an alumnus of several famous music programs such as the Aspen Music Festival and School where I studied with Jean-David Coen.

As a pianist, I have performed my entire life as a soloist, as an orchestral soloist, and in chamber recitals. Besides my solo activities, I have a background as a professional collaborative pianist. I have made music with many professional musicians around the country. I have also had performances recorded for television and radio broadcast.

My students regularly place at the highest levels in festivals and competitions, and I have taught prizewinners in numerous advanced competitions. However, I also teach many students who play only for pleasure, including children and adults of all levels.

My unique blend of a supportive and kind personality, alongside the focus and know-how that comes with years of experience, make me suited for every type of student. I work well with beginning children and adults, and students who play for pleasure only. On the other hand, I have proven results with students focused on advanced levels of playing, and understand the discipline and focus needed to prepare for competitions and careers in music.
